What is the pursuit race format?
In a pursuit race, boats are allocated staggered start times based on their given handicap. The first boat to cross the finish line is the winner.
What are the boat classes?
All Yachts will be sailed as 1 class
What are the entry fees?
Standard registration is €40, a reduced rate of €20 for Howth 17's Puppeteers and Squibs
When is the skipper briefing?
The briefing takes place at the Top of the Marina in HYC at 1:00 PM on race day. Attendance is mandatory for all skippers.
Is my boat eligible for entry?
The Pursuit Race is open to all keelboats.
What safety equipment is required?
Mandatory gear includes life jackets for all crew members, a marine VHF radio.
Can I use a Spinnaker?
Yes. Skippers must declare on their original entry whether or not they will use a spinnaker.
I there prizes?
Yeah loads of them.

Check-In Procedures
- Mandatory Skipper’s briefing at Yacht Club terrace.
On-Water Conduct
- Strict adherence to World Sailing RRS 2024-2027.
- Proper display of official race battle flags at all times.

Registration Opens
The official portal opens for all yacht classes to submit their pursuit entries.
Early Bird Ends
You may still enter after this date but your start time will be adjusted by discretion of the race commitee!
Entries Closed 1200
We cant accept any later entries due to working out start times and Handicaps.
The Pursuit Race
The fleet departs the East Pier for the 2026 pursuit challenge at 3:00 PM CST.
Awards Ceremony
Post-race festivities and prize giving ceremony held back at HYC.
